The Reddick fumigants YF-108 High Speed Mulch Layer is a plastic mulch layer with multiple options that help you make it fit for your application. The Reddick mulch layer will put a “Crown” on the bed which will help with water moving off of the top of the bed.
Another very important part of the high speed mulch layer is the addition of another roll of plastic on the machine to make for faster switching rolls of plastic when the other roll is out of plastic. This will reduce the amount of down time that is caused from running out of plastic in the middle of a row and not having another roll right there. The Reddick plastic mulch layer is capable of holding a 54 inch wide or a 60 inch wide roll of plastic depending on the needs for your operation.
The Reddick plastic mulch layer includes many other options such as:
-Press wheels for proper placement of the edge of the plastic
-Bedding blades are ahead of press pan for gathering soil to form the bed
-Multiple set ups for holding chemical tanks
Manual row markers to mark the next row (Hydraulic markers optional)
Prices will range on the options that you add to the plastic layer. For a bedder with manual markers, drip tape option, and all fumigation hook ups and tank carriers a bedder will cost $4500.
The plastic mulch layer weighs approximately 1600 pounds. This weight doesn’t include the chemicals, plastic, and drip tape rolls that will be on the mulch layer during bedding. Reddick reccomends that you will need 75 horsepower with a two wheel drive tractor and 55-60 horsepower with a four wheel drive tractor.
